Music is an incredible art that can help people feel connected while also, which I think is one of its greatest gifts, the feeling of being embraced and not alone. Though the song means something different for everybody, that night that song meant the world to me. The song talks about feeling paralyzed but to keep remembering to get up and push forward. Attention Attention, the feature film experience of multi-platinum band Shinedown’s 2018 record-breaking studio album of the same name, will premiere worldwide on Friday, September 3. Even though I knew I was not alone in my pain because there were so many people that loved and missed my dear friend, I felt as if this song was telling me, “you will be ok Chris”. When I started hearing him sing the lyrics I got goosebumps and emotional. The first time I heard this particular song was when they performed it live. I had listened to their music before but there was one particular song I was not familiar with at the time. During this time we were approved to cover one of Shinedowns tour stops in NC. The noncontiguous film condition served as a perfectly matched control as we used the identical film but presented it with the scenes out of order.
To make myself keep moving forward I kept covering shows for our publication. As a result, we predicted that in the contiguous condition attention would increasingly be captured by the film leading to narrative transportation and neglect of participant’s own goal.
